Had Yao Beach (or Long Beach)

Had Yao is the last untouched beach in Krabi Provience, and perhaps the most spectacular with it's views of Jum Mountain and Ao Nang's Cliff walls.

Located in the rural backwaters of Krabi province in the south of Thailand you find the longest untouched beach of mainland Krabi. In convenient distance from the hordes of tourists poring into nearby Phuket and Ao Nang, but only 25 kilometer from the new international airport of Krabi. This provides an excellent getaway break for those who seek ultimate relaxation in tranquility. From Had Yao to Ao Nang, it is approximately 40-minute drive.

Commercialization of Had Yao has yet to come ashore. The locals makes a living from the rice paddies and prawn farms found in the nearby area. The local roads takes you pass their homes which are beautiful old wooden houses on stilts, where goats and chickens scratch around for food. On Tuesday and Friday afternoons, there is a local marked down the road by the beach where you can stock up on fresh fruit and vegetables at barging prices. Maybe a perfect activity before taking a stroll on the beach while watching a breathtaking sunset crawling behind the island and into the horizon of the Andaman Sea.

This is a large peninsula with a several kilometer long beach. It is not a great swimming beach - the sand is brown-grey and the water is very shallow for a long way out - but is great for walking. The views are good, facing Phi Phi Island to the west and the mountains around Rai Ley to the north.
